Electronic Industry Association, also RS-170
Common name for the US standard for monochrome TV and equivalent to NTSC. The EIA or RS-170 standard also defines a TV image as 60 fields per second and 525 lines, but does not recognize a colour subcarrier.
In image processing, virtually all analogue monochrome cameras which do not conform to the European standards output an RS-170 signal.
